Academic Guidelines & Complaints
If you have any complaints to make about undergraduate science courses, you can do so anonymously or leave your contact information if you’d like a follow-up. Please include as many details as possible. You can also email your departmental VP Academic, whose contacts are listed below, or the SUS VP Academic Yashar, at academic@susmcgill.ca directly and we will be able to follow up with you.
How to Make a Complaint
You can consult the different student assessment policies at McGill listed above to determine the validity and strength of your complaint.
Even if there are no specific guidelines that can be applied towards your case, there are a few factors that can strengthen the validity of your complaint including:
Context
Volume of complaints
Precedence (i.e. has the grading scheme, course outline, or other element changed recently, or has this always been the case in previous years)
It is generally recommended to reach out first to the course coordinator or instructor with your specific issue. However, you can also contact your departmental VP Academic, the SUS VP Academic, or fill out the complaint form at any time.
